flourish wellness + birth co

Flourish Wellness + Birth Co. was founded on a vision to create a safe place for women and families to be seen, known, and heard.

We are committed to walking alongside families to help them optimize their health, find the root cause of symptoms or illness, and empower them to flourish in their communities. We started as the first free standing, midwife owned birth center in South Dakota, and have now evolved into a wellness clinic that provides functional wellness care for the entire family.

First and foremost, my husband Jeremy and I have 3 beautiful children. We live on an acreage North of Humboldt with our 2 dogs, Tikka and Nova. I absolutely love anything outdoors, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, playing in our local coed volleyball league, and running to all of my kids’ various activities.

I am an Enneagram 9 (peacemaker). I love a tranquil environment and helping others find their peace and security as well. Midwifery feels like a calling for me and helping mamas recognize their own power and potential brings me so much energy and JOY!

I graduated from Lennox High School in 2001 and attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA for a hot second until transferring to South Dakota State University to be with the love of my life. I graduated in 2004 with a major in Journalism. I loved the creativity and freedom the profession had to offer, however, it didn’t take me long to realize it was not my calling. It did not b no ring me joy and purpose the same way caring for other people did. I returned to SDSU, completed their accelerated nursing program and graduated with my BSN in 2007. I practiced as a RN for 8 years and was a maternal flight nurse for 6 of those years. I graduated from Frontier Nursing University with my Certified Nurse Midwife Degree in 2015 and have worked as a full-scope CNM since that time.

I’ve been a wife for over 20 years and am a mama to 4 kiddos and of course I can’t forget my dog mom duties to our sweet golden doodles! I’m an Enneagram 8 (if you don’t know yours…I highly recommend getting curious!), a daily disciple, and immensely passionate individual. When I’m not helping deliver babies or hugging my own, I love traveling, reading a good book, hiking and being in nature. I breathe easier in the mountains or by the ocean.

I am a protector; peace seeker; and nurturer by nature. Choosing to become a midwife has truly changed the way I felt about work. I now get to help other women feel empowered as they bring their babies into this world and care and provide for their families. My life goal is to have those who come into my presence and feel seen, known, loved and have a strong desire to know Jesus more.

I graduated from Lennox High School in 1999-yup “in the 1900s” as the kids tell me. From there, I went on to graduate from Azusa Pacific University with a Degree in Molecular Biology. After spending some time at home with the kiddos, and teaching at a local college, I returned to NCC and completed their Associates of Nursing Degree in 2011. I practiced nursing in California, Iowa and eventually Haiti where our family lived and served for 2.5 years. During that time, I realized that if you could keep mamas healthy and alive, families survived and even THRIVED! Sarah and I decided to go back to midwifery school and graduated from Frontier Nursing University with our Certified Nurse Midwife degrees in 2015. What a gift it has been to be on this journey together! We cannot wait to come alongside you in your care. It truly is our JOY and privilege.

Becca Haisch, LPN
Clinic Manager

My husband and I have been married for almost 10 years and together we have four wild boys and a golden retriever. In my free time, I enjoy anything and everything outdoors, watching sports, playing games (anything competitive really), listening to podcasts, spending time with family, traveling, and meeting new people.

I am the Clinic Manager here at Flourish and feel so grateful to be a part of this family! I received my Master’s in Healthcare Management degree through the University of Minnesota and previously worked as a nurse in Women’s Health for six years and Oncology for two years prior to that. I also have an Interior Design degree that I basically use as a hobby these days! I love being creative and seeing things come together in their own unique way.

I love that we offer a wide range of services for everyone at Flourish! Witnessing the transformative impact of root-cause medicine on someone’s life has been truly remarkable. Coming to Flourish is a health investment everyone should make!

Sarah Thorson, RN

I am married to my husband Sam of 7 years and together we have 3 sweet, wild children! We live on an acreage near Beresford. When I’m not busy chasing my kiddos I enjoy anything outdoors from camping, gardening, traveling and just living the peaceful, country life.

For the past 9 years I’ve worked as a nurse- 5 of them in Cardiology, 3 in Labor and Delivery and now 1 year already at Flourish! I found my passion in Women’s Health after having my first baby. I had the personal opportunity to be with Erin and Sarah throughout my pregnancy journeys. I knew after my amazing experience with them, I wanted to be that advocate and support for all mamas and families during that special time in their life. I want to help women feel empowered and seen when they are in such a vulnerable state.

I feel so blessed to be part of the Flourish family!

Beth Grocott, RN

My husband, Cole and I have 2 kids and live in Hartford, SD. In my spare time, I run a photography business, go on hikes with my family and travel to new places.

I have been a nurse for 20 years and am passionate about so many specialties! I have worked in the NICU, postpartum, pediatrics, insurance review, case management and 3 years ago, I became certified in psychiatric-mental health nursing. I feel that everyone has a story to tell and I love being there for people when they need to be heard. Even though I talk a lot…I am a really good listener!

I am so blessed to be a part of the Flourish birth team and am so proud of these amazing women and the unique experiences that they are creating for Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.

Cheers to a beautiful future!

Madison Bren, PNP

Beyond the medical realm, I indulge in my love for baking, outdoor adventures, cheering for sports teams, and creating cherished memories with my husband and kids.

I am a pediatric nurse practitioner here at Flourish. I have worked in healthcare for the last 13 years, primarily in pediatrics. Providing exceptional care for children brings me profound joy, and I’m a firm believer in active collaboration between patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Joining Flourish Wellness and Birth Co has been nothing short of a blessing. Working alongside such incredible individuals who share my passion for healthcare and patient empowerment has enhanced both my professional and personal growth. I am profoundly thankful for the opportunity to contribute to a team that values compassion, expertise, and the belief that every healthcare journey is a partnership.

Melissa Lehr, FNP

I am a Sioux Falls native and thoroughly enjoy my community of people. When I am not busy chasing around my 3 kids, I enjoy camping, running, and iced coffee.

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner here at Flourish. I have over 14 years of healthcare practice with experience in ER and ICU, as well as Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. I received by BSN degree through South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota and my MSN degree through Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.

Since previously working in acute and specialty medicine, I have grown such an adoration for health promotion and disease prevention. I truly believe that making even the smallest changes in your health can have a big impact on your overall well being. I enjoy partnering with patients to get to the root cause of health concerns and feel lucky to support patients in becoming the best version of themselves.

I hope to see you soon!

Paige Sunstrom, RN

I was born and raised in Minnesota, but came to South Dakota 7 years ago to attend Augustana University for nursing school. I love Sioux Falls and I am so glad to call it home now! In my free time I’m almost always outside running, rollerblading or hiking. I also love traveling and spending time with family and friends.

My nursing career started three years ago working inpatient Pediatrics and NICU. Growing up being my mom’s side-kick with her in-home daycare, I’ve naturally been drawn to caring for young kids and babies. Watching my sister go through her pregnancy and labor and delivery process is what sparked my interest in the beauty and significance of birth. Since joining the Flourish team, I have felt so much joy being able to work in all of the areas I am passionate about in one place. I am beyond grateful to be a part of the Flourish Family!

Carly Wright, RN

My husband and I have two sweet little boys, and when I’m not working or doing laundry, I love spending time with friends and loved ones, cooking, traveling, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.

Since I was eight years old, I have known that I wanted to work in the field of pregnancy and birth. I have spent the last 11 years practicing nursing in a variety of specialties, with the last 8 years dedicated to labor and delivery and postpartum care in a hospital setting. My goal in caring for others is that they feel supported and safe, and are empowered and connected to their bodies through the transformative experience of birth. I am so honored to witness the miracle of birth and care for families, and I am thrilled to be part of the Flourish team!

Gracie Bowers, LPN

Outside of work, I enjoy camping with family and friends, being outside with my dogs, and have recently learned to enjoy the wedding planning process with my fiance Jaetin.

I have been an LPN for two years. I started my nursing career in orthopedics and am so happy to have recently joined the Flourish team. This new journey has opened my eyes to how personable and empowering healthcare truly can be. I am so blessed to be a part of the Flourish team!

Jessica Crevier, RN

First and foremost, I am a wife and busy mom. My husband, Jake, and I have seven children with number eight arriving in June! In my spare time, I am usually sipping on a lukewarm coffee, making food, or stepping on Legos.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Nursing. Prior to becoming a Nurse, I worked as a Health and Nutrition Coach. At Flourish, I work part time as a labor and delivery nurse and serve as a birth and postpartum doula. The miracle of pregnancy and birth will never be lost on me and there are few things I love more than supporting, empowering and advocating for women in the birth space!

Paige Fishel, RN

I am married to my husband, Corey, of 17 years and together we have three handsome boys, Kale, Quinn, and Ryder. I enjoy reading a good book, going for walks with our goldendoodle and bernedoodle, and chasing my boys around to all of their sporting events.

Laura Stokely, RN

I am a wife and mom of 3 busy boys. In my spare time you will find me at rodeos, camping, snowboarding, or volunteering with Ski Patrol.

I went to St. Lukes College for Nursing. I have over 15 years experience in Women’s health (high risk ob, labor/delivery, postpartum, and maternal fetal medicine). I came to Flourish to help empower women during their natural birth experience!

Kaelyn Curtis, Administrative Assistant

I have been married to my husband Colton for 4 years and a mama to our little guy for almost 2 years! When I am away from Flourish you can find me behind a camera, chasing around my toddler, or singing along to some worship music. I love all things birth, holistic wellness and outdoors. In the summer time you can always find me outside doing all the things!

I am a graduate of The University of Wyoming with a degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. I found Flourish during my pregnancy, was a part of their first Hypnobirthing class and couldn’t stay away after that! I have worked with the sweetest team at Flourish for almost a year. I love serving the families in our community through my role here.

See you soon!
